Much Ado About Nothing (RE: Islamist Insecurity)

Once again, some Muslims have shown themselves to be insecure about their religious beliefs. According to the BBC today, At least nine more people - including civilians and policemen - have been killed in a fourth day of anti-US protests in Afghanistan, officials say. … The crazies are willing to riot and die because someone flushed a book down the toilet? If these people were confident in their belief in Islam, they wouldn’t give a hoot what someone did to a book on the other side of the planet. Truly confident people are the ones not tooting their horns about what they believe. They could care less about what two consenting adults do in the privacy of a bedroom, because they are secure in their own sexuality. They won’t riot if someone burns “their flag,” because they believe in the people and social institutions that flag stands for. And they certainly wouldn’t kill someone just because that person believes in a different holy book. Go ahead. Burn my flag or a copy of the Constitution, Bible, or Torah. You won’t get a rise out of me. These are just objects. The value of these objects is defined by the good people who understand their true meaning and spirit. The good people walk the walk and practice what they preach. They know that running around and shaking fists does absolutely no good. This is much ado about nothing. Talk about a solution (Islamism) looking for a problem. Talk about narrow-mindedness, intolerance, and complete lack of a sense of humor. I assume these Afghans want the Taliban back so that no one can dance, so that television sets are banned, and so women can be executed in public for not wearing the appropriate attire. They want to live in hell and force everyone else to join them. No thanks. |
