Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas has tendered his resignation to Yasser Arafat. Arafat has once again derailed any hopes for the Palestinian people to achieve freedom and democracy.

Yes, Arafat has done it again. Yasser Arafat, the greatest terrorist of them all, who tried to smuggle a boatload of plastic explosives into Palestine and opposes democratic reforms which would loosen his grip on power. Arafat rules by decree, orders summary executions of his own people, and steals UN, US, European aid money. Arafat's own al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade keeps killing innocent Israeli civilians with firebombs packed with nuts, bolts, nails, and screws. Arafat speaks of peace in English, while in Arabic he and his cronies advocate Israel’s destruction.[1]

Arafat is repeating the whole Oslo "peace process" disaster again. Let us not forget that it was Palestinian "President" Yasser Arafat who in July 2000 rejected Israel's generous offer to end the conflict. Palestinian terrorists responded to Israel's offer with the "most sustained wave of Palestinian suicide bombings in Israeli history." The Palestinian Authority never lived up to its Oslo commitments. Despite Arafat's well-known involvement in terrorism, European dignitaries like British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana continue to maintain contacts with Arafat (thus making matters even worse for both Palestinians and Israelis).

Arafat is the main obstacle to peace. Time for the Israelis to hunker down and expel him from the territories.
