LATEST NEWS ON U.N. OIL-FOR-FOOD PROGRAM France, Germany, and Russia, part of the Axis of Weasel, plan to meet this weekend to discuss the Iraq situation. They're still trying to prove their importance on the world stage. Just Wednesday, German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer paid a social call on Yasser Arafat, the Palestinian terror-master who is fast becoming irrelevant. So are the intentions of the French, Germans, Russians--and Chinese for that matter--based in a whole-hearted desire to spread peace throughout the world? Or is there something more sinister going on? David Horowitz just pointed out this week that "Russia, France and China accounted for 82% of all weapons sales to Saddam Hussein's regime between 1973 and 2002." So they have no financial interest in keeping Saddam in power? They're just opposing American policy out of the goodness of their hearts, right?
Just take a look at the arms sales to Iraq since 1973 (or look at it here). The information was tabulated by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute or SIPRI. This Sweden-based group states that their purpose is to conduct research on questions of conflict and cooperation of importance for international peace and security, with the aim of contributing to an understanding of the conditions for peaceful solutions of international conflicts and for a stable peace. Something smells fishy in Paris, Bonn, Moscow, and Beijing. You decide. |
